The following procedures shall be followed to determine whether or not a bowler’s clothing meets the current Alberta 5-Pin Bowlers’ Association Dress Code requirements and what must be done when a violation occurs. NOTE: This must be checked prior to the first official scoring ball is thrown:
1. The Dress Code Scrutinizer(s) look at the bowler’s attire, including shirt / blouse / sweater / pants / shorts / skirt and skorts, under the normal bowling centre lighting from a distance of approximately 10 (ten) feet.
2. The Scrutinizer(s) must answer the following questions to determine conformity, or not, to the Dress Code. a) Are the pants / dress shorts / skirt / skort a solid color? b) Do the pants / dress shorts / skirt / skort conform to the style required? i.e. not rugby style, not track pants, etc. c) Are the pants / dress shorts / skirt / skort noticeable made of the required fabric? i.e. Not denim, etc. d) Are the pants / dress shorts / skirt / skort loose fitting? i.e. Not skin-tight? e) Does the shirt/blouse/sweater conform to the requirements?
3. Answering YES to all questions means the bowler’s attire conforms to the Dress Code. Answering NO to any question means the Scrutinizer(s) may take a closer look at what appears to be a Dress Code violation.
4. Upon closer examination of the violating article of clothing, by looking only, no feeling of fabric, looking at labels, etc, the Scrutinizer(s) must determine whether or not the clothing adheres to the Dress Code or not.
5. If the clothing does not violate the Dress Code, the bowler can continue in the competition.
6. If the clothing violated the Dress Code, the Scrutinizer(s) must inform the bowler of the following: a) What article of clothing violates the Dress Code and why. b) Explaining the bowler’s options of: i) Removing the violating article of clothing and changing into an article of clothing that does not violate the Dress Code, or; ii) Continue to wear the violating article of clothing and accepting that the bowler’s zone will be levied the prescribed fine for violating the Dress Code. c) The bowlers shall NOT be disqualified from the competition.
